UPDATES! UPDATES! UPDATES! PLEASE SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR UPDATES ON CJAI AND HOW YOU CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT HER ON HER JOURNEY TO HEALTH AND HEALING
Hi, my name is David Sterling and I’m raising money for a dear friend of mine who is going through some very challenging times. Her story is one that deeply touched my heart, and I vowed to help her in any way I could. I’m asking that you all find it in your heart to give to this GoFundMe so that she can focus on healing and not the stress of what she’s going through.

Currently, CJai had to relocate from Texas back to her hometown of Georgia due to financial hardship caused by health issues. CJai has been through a lot in a short period. She lost her car due to a hit-and-run drunk driver in the latter part of 2022. She has not been able to get another vehicle, which has strained her in several ways. In May of 2023, she was struck by a driver and that put her down for a while, so no income was coming in for months, putting her more in an awful bind. Fast forward to 2024, she had a damaging back injury at work and is not able to return, resulting in the loss of healthcare benefits that she so desperately needs. CJai has undergone several medical procedures for various reasons, and she needs all the help she can get. During a routine CT scan and MRI to find out why she is having severe abdominal pains, the scans showed an umbilical hernia, which requires surgery to repair. The scan also found an unusual mass in her left breast, so a biopsy was ordered. CJai also show signs of severe endometriosis where years of tissue growth has been breaking down and normally tissue breakdown happens during the cycle which causes menstruation, but CJai's tissue breakdown causes a heavy period for the normal tissue but the other tissue breaks down and traps large amounts of blood in her body and this happens every month. Her doctor wants to perform several surgeries due to everything going on. Lastly, her ovaries have large cysts, and they have somehow merged, and the doctors are calling them “kissing ovaries.” CJai's tests show cells that are cancerous and her doctor is afraid it's endometrial cancer. This would be the second surgery to remove cancerous cells (the first was in 2020) and both CJai and the doctor are concerned, and as her friend, so am I. CJai's stomach has become so enlarged due to the hernia (intestines pushing outside of the muscle wall) that it is excruciating for her. With all the health concerns, CJai's doctors often keep her out of work so she isn't able to generate income for her bills. She needs your help!

CJai is a fighter, and she will continue to fight to the end. Her faith in God keeps her going when it gets hard, and when she wants to ask “What’s the point?” I want to get as many donations as possible to help her pay for the treatments she needs. All money donated will go toward the surgeries she needs. I’ve worked alongside CJai for many years and she is one of the most genuine people I’ve met. I sincerely hope you all find it in your heart to help my friend. As you can see, she has been going through it but continues to press forward because she says, “I have to.”

CJai is also one of the Chair members of the National Trauma Education and Policy Foundation. This foundation focuses on a holistic contribution to the development of laws and regulations, with a specific focus on mental health. CJai also devotes her time to the children and youth in underserved communities as a mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She focuses her time on prison policy and societal issues as a grassroots activist with The Texas Death Penalty Abolition Movement, Dream.Org, and The Texas Prisons Community Advocates, to name a few. CJai is a full-time student at Grand Canyon University working on dual Master's degrees in Business Administration and Leadership. Even with everything going on in her life, CJai continues to focus on helping and healing other people, which is why I want to do this for her so she knows she's worthy of being cared for too. With your help, I believe that she can get the help she needs and come back stronger than before.

I want to thank you all in advance for your donations. I know CJai will be very grateful to know that so many people have given to help her. Your donations will go toward medical expenses, prescriptions, specialist visits, and tests she has to receive.

Thank you Sincerely,
David S.

1st Update: Thanks to everyone who has donated thus far. I have a quick update. CJai has to undergo an endoscopy procedure on the morning of 10/4/24. Today 9/30/24 she had more blood work done for the surgery on 10/8/24. She also met with the Bariatric surgeon who will perform the umbilical hernia repair sometime in late October but we are awaiting the date. CJai is still waiting for the results of the breast biopsy and the cervical biopsy. She was told that results should show in the next 2 or 3 days. CJai is championing everything being thrown her way but she still needs your help!

2nd Update: As of 10/3/24 CJai received the grim diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer. More tests have been ordered to ensure the cancer isn't rapidly spreading. The surgery today 10/8/24 was successful. An endometrial biopsy was taken to make sure the cancer cells that was present in 2020 haven't returned. CJai is awaiting the results of that and we will update you. Right now, it is important to know that she needs your help to receive her treatment.
