Support Kaylee’s Cancer Journey: Operation “Get Back”

Battling cancer in my 20’s was not on my 2024/25 bingo card. I don’t think it’s ever on ANYONE’s bingo card but that’s how cancer is. It doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t care how healthy you are or what your lifestyle choices are. This can happen to anyone.
On October 7th, after many months of doctor’s visits, I was diagnosed with Choriocarcinoma. This is a very aggressive but curable cancer that likes to spread to the liver, lungs and brain. Thankfully in my case, it had not metastasized to any other part of my body. Quickly, I was scheduled for every scan you can imagine and for the chemo port to be placed in my chest.
On October 21st, I had my first round of chemotherapy. The cancer was going to be measured by the HCG hormone and at the beginning of my first round it was +200,000. I was told treatment was going to last up to a year.
As of January 4th, I am 6 rounds/ 30 treatments in with hormone levels in the low thousands. While I have made amazing progress, my life has also been put on hold.
As you can imagine cancer treatment is not cheap and health insurance does not cover everything. The start of the new year only adds another level of stress being that my health insurance deductibles and copays restart for the benefit year.
I am 100% sure that I will make it to the end of this journey but I do recognize that I cannot turn a blind eye to the financial part of this. This has taken over a good 99% of my life but I know that on the other side of this I’ll be able to Get Back to living.
So If you’re able, please donate whatever you can. If you are not able to, please share. I hope however you choose to help is multiplied unto you ten-fold.
********February 8th, 2025 update*********
My first line of treatment & second line of treatment have both failed. I am now transferring to a hospital that has a specialist who will take over my care. I am blessed to know be in the hands of the #1 Cancer Hospital in the State. My new treatment will require me to be admitted into the hospital. This journey continues to have hiccups along the way but I can’t wait to get to other side.
