My godson Garrett, 18, recently had a liver transplant due to a rare condition called Alagille syndrome.

His recovery involves frequent trips to Philadelphia, hotel stays, and time off work — all while his parents care for five younger siblings.

I’m Serena, and I’ve been best friends with his mom, Danielle, for over 30 years. I’ve watched Garrett grow up, and now I’m doing everything I can to support him and his family during this incredibly hard time.
