Hello, my name is Moira. I am a transgender woman who has dealt with gender dysphoria most of my life. It has been four years since I started hormone replacement therapy. Even though taking hormones has helped me align myself with how I feel on the inside, there is still so much left for me to do before I can finally say that I am comfortable with my body.
One of those things would be to have Facial Feminization Surgery, or FFS for short. Whenever I look at my face, I still see who I was before my transition. It makes me feel like nothing has changed, making me feel terrible about myself. My body was poisoned by testosterone for 30 odd years; I was a well-structured masculine person before my transition, so there are only so many things I can do about the bones in my body, but there is something I can do about my face. There's a very definitive difference between the masculine and feminine facial structures. I feel like I have a very masculine look still, and it can ruin a whole day when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
I approached my doctor about FFS and found that one of the best surgeons in the country operates right there in Boston! I'm hoping that I can raise the funds needed for this life-changing surgery. The average cost of this surgery is between $20k and $50K depending on what is being done. While I don't expect to raise all these funds simply thru GoFundMe, any contributions will help me get one step closer to my goal.
Thank you for reading this, and any donation no matter how small, will help me reach this goal. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This surgery will change my life for the better.
