Hazel Grace's Medical Journey

Hello everyone. Hazel Grace went in for her one year appointment on Friday July 12, 2024. During her assessment, it was found that her head had grown too much since her 9 month appointment, so she was sent to the ER for a CT scan. The scan showed enlarged ventricles and hydrocephalus (increased fluid) on her brain. She has been transferred to VCU Children’s Hospital to be under the care of a neurosurgeon. Hazel will undergo an MRI tomorrow, July 15, under anesthesia and then will be taken to the OR for an operation to manage her fluid build up on her brain. Since we aren’t 100% sure of the neurosurgery plan, we are unsure of how long her stay will be. Ceandra and Kip are currently out of work and depending on the MRI findings and extent of surgery we are unsure when they will return. I’ve started a gofundme with their permission to help raise money for medical bills and any debts they may occur during this time. Please know Ceandra and Kip appreciate anything and are very overwhelmed by all that is going on.
