Hello, our mom is desperate and in fact, would not approve of a go fund me page, but this is urgent. She has been on unpaid medical leave since June 7th due to multiple health care issues.
Her health insurance was canceled due to nonpayment of high Cobra premiums so she was unable to pay for six much-needed prescriptions. At this point, she needs to be admitted to Regions Hospital for future surgery, which they can't do until weight gain and medications and food with infusions via IV. That is her only option.
As some of you may know, she is a lung and brain cancer survivor, but she has fallen very ill for the past several months. Extreme weakness, weight loss, unable to eat, bladder issues, chronic pain, and more.
As it turns out, a recent abdominal MRI suggests her only option is a small bowel resection due to Crohn's Disease, which she was diagnosed with 20 years ago. Her doctor said this is her only option as her small intestine is so diseased.
We are desperately seeking help with prescriptions and Cobra premiums so she can apply for short-term disability, as this was also canceled. We also know that after chemotherapy and radiation in her lungs and brain, she has never really felt normal since that time and also has fibrosis of the lungs that continues to affect her daily.
Chron's Disease is not curable but her doctor says once they take out the diseased portion of her small intestine she may feel better for some time. With that being said, she is a cancer survivor and will continue to keep fighting.
