UPDATE 5/28/23:
Al had to get a CT and X-ray as he wasn't responding to neuro exams last evening.

The brain scans showed some infarctions (areas of brain which were not receiving oxygen). This is not unexpected for this injury. Results also showed 8mm-1.4cm swelling, pushing to the left side of his brain. The risk for germination very high. Regarding his lungs: subcutaneous emphysema-not limiting lung function from pneumothorax.

BIG prayers are needed!

UPDATE 5/26/23:
It’s at a stand still since this afternoon. But he had a very good positive day so we will take that.

Al is still sedated and on the ventilator. His injuries entail major trauma to the brain, to which they’ve removed the majority of the right side of his skull. Fractures include the front of his skull, right eye socket, 5 ribs on his right side, and a broken right wrist. He has extreme bruising and swelling. He has improved on his facial swelling and it has gone down a little.

Today 5-26-23 he had his drain in his brain removed. They paused the ventilator and he was able to initiate his own breaths for 60 seconds! (most patients only get 30seconds.) He’s on minimal sedation. They’ve taken him off blood pressure meds and he’s maintaining that himself. Something we are hoping for is some pupil response, but the lack of could be because of the sedation meds. No repeat head ct scans because the swelling has gone down and is staying down. He has a chest tube in to help both lungs inflate and drain all the fluid.

Please continue to pray!

On Wednesday, May 24th, Al was working on a construction project and took an extreme fall to the ground, rendering him unconscious.

As he was working alone, it is unknown how long he was down before the property owner found him and called for help. He suffered numerous fractures, a collapsed lung, and extensive injury to his head. A portion of his skull was removed to relieve the pressure. He is currently intubated in the ICU, and the full extent of his injuries and long term prognosis is unknown.

Please consider donating to help his family cover medical costs and any other needs. All funds will go to his wife, Sheila.
