Today, our hearts weigh heavy as we come together to share a story that has shaken our close-knit community to its core. It's about a woman whom many of us know and love—Alma Acevedo, a hardworking, cheerful soul always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

On July 13, 2023, the day that should have been just like any other for Alma as she prepared to open her Tutti Frutti Bar shop in Soap Lake, her life took a tragic turn. In a horrifying act of violence, Alma was attacked by her own husband, a man who should have been her pillar of support, but instead became the source of her greatest pain.

The reason for this gruesome attack was Alma's brave decision to break free from the toxic relationship she was trapped in. She sought a better life, one free from fear and torment, and for that, she paid an unimaginable price. But her spirit refused to be extinguished, and she clung to life with every ounce of strength she had.

Thankfully, Alma survived the brutal assault, but the road to recovery is long and arduous. As a community, we have an opportunity to come to her aid in her darkest hour. Alma needs our support to cover the medical expenses that have accumulated due to the injuries she sustained during the attack.

Now is the time for us to show Alma that she is not alone in her struggle.
