For nearly four years now, I have been living with Stage IV breast cancer. Some days I'm thriving, and some days I am barely surviving. With Stage IV breast cancer, I will be in active treatment for the rest of my life. I worry about the financial toxicity of cancer treatment every single day. In the past, our wonderfully supportive parents have helped pay for my medical expenses. As time goes by and costs rise, I worry about their retirement funds becoming too depleted to support their own needs. Cancer treatment is expensive, even with health insurance. For example, my out-of-pocket cost for just one of my injections is $440 each month. Keep in mind this is just one expense in a list of many. We will greatly appreciate any help you can provide. As you can imagine, medical expenses add up quickly.

I am stable on my current chemo regimen, but honestly that can change anytime. I get scanned for progression every six weeks. Also, being stable does not mean I do not have side effects to contend with and manage. That is very much a daily battle.

Even with cancer and side effects, my life is good! I have a great support system within our families, the best care partner anyone could ask for and two awesome kids. All of who support and love me in so many ways, I wake up eternally grateful each morning. I could definitely go on and on about my incredible family!!
