Donate to Help Animals in the Dixie Fire
Plumas County Animal Services has been managing animal disaster response for the enormous 500,000+ acre Dixie Fire for weeks now. It is an enormous task to house and care for evacuated animals, respond to thousands of emergency calls, provide food and water to animals in the evacuated and burned areas, and make sure that all animals eventually get reunited with their owners.
My name is Sarah Reidenbach. I'm a veterinarian and Executive Director of Sonoma Community Animal Response Team. My team of volunteers and I have been on scene here at Plumas County Animal Services for several days working directly with the small but mighty Plumas County Animal Services team. They are doing an incredible job despite an overwhelming task. Please support them if you can so they can provide for the animals in the Dixie Fire.
While here, I've seen the human animal bond in action: people tearing up as they leave their animals at the shelter for boarding while they go to an evacuation shelter or seek safety, people calling and begging for animal services to check on their animals who were left at home, and people coming to the shelter to look for their lost animals. Plumas County Animal Services is managing all of this, and providing housing and care for all of the animals that need them. Please support them if you can! All donations will go to Plumas County Animal Services. Thank you.
