Donate to help artist, mother & friend Sherry

Hi, my name is Nikki and I am the youngest daughter of Sherry Serafini.

I never thought I would be writing something like this.

In September 2022, my mother Sherry was diagnosed with breast cancer. What was supposed to be a quick-and-easy, in-and-out one-day surgical procedure has now turned into a year-long cancer treatment plan.

For those of you who don't know who she is, my mom, Sherry Serafini is a bead embroidery artist & teacher, mother of two, grandmother of one, daughter, wife, and a dear friend to so many.

My mother is strong. I mean like, really strong; she has gone through the literal ringer within a lifetime. While there's no doubt in my mind that she will beat this thing like all the other obstacles she's come to face in life - the truth of the matter is, is that cancer is expensive. My mom is an artist; a tough, hardworking artist that does not take breaks (if you have the pleasure of knowing her, you know exactly this). This diagnosis, unfortunately, is forcing her to take a break. Normally she is teaching all over the globe throughout the calendar year, interacting closely with her beloved students and colleagues - this will not be the case this year. While she will of course be creating and keeping her Etsy shop updated throughout her healing process (wait till you see what she's been up to), teaching is my mother's sole source of income. And as many of you fellow artists know, we do not get great insurance (if any).

My mom is looking at hefty bills. I know she would kill me if she knew I was setting this up, but I know she has too much pride to admit that we could use some help. Last year we lost my grandfather, her dad, whom she had just spent the previous two years taking care of (along with my grandmother). She footed the bill for almost all the expenses that weren't covered by the VA. After his passing, she poured every dollar she had into keeping her mother comfortable and taken care of. As I said earlier, she is strong and has proven that she can handle almost anything - even the bulk load that is a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan - but I think she deserves a break. I want to give her that break.

Please consider donating or sharing. All funds will go directly to my mom, to aid in medical and living expenses during the length of her treatment. Any funds left over will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Anything, literally anything helps, be it a donation/share/positive thought/prayer; whatever it is, please send it Sherry's way.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read!
