Dear family and friends,
A note of great thanks to all who have given! The 'thank you' feature on the website is not working (ticket filed with Help desk) so I am sending along thanks here.
Blessings,
Kathy
The following is an update from the family:
Thank you so much for your donation. Everything—donations, thoughts, prayers—are far more appreciated than you could imagine.
Unfortunately, Barry passed early this morning. Any funds donated will be used to cover the medical bills, funeral costs, and lost income.
On Dec 7, 2023, our sister Melanie (Newlon) Blodgett and our nieces Arla Jean and Georgia learned the devastating news that way too many people hear: your husband and father Barry has cancer. By Jan 18, 2024, he could no longer work and endured his first hospital stay in Lancaster PA. By the time he was admitted to the Hospital at the Univ of Penn in Philadelphia two weeks ago, he had lost too much weight and strength to be considered for surgery to remove the agressively growing tumor on his tonsil and surrounding tissue. He is being moved to a skilled nursing facility Friday Feb 2nd to undergo physical therapy and build his strength in order to be considered for surgery.
Barry's employer has no disability insurance and Melanie is missing days upon days of work. She has applied for financial aid from the two hospitals that have treated Barry but any medical costs such as deductibles or co-pays that occurred prior to the application date will not be covered.
I am reaching out to your hearts. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will be a ray of hope and will help Melanie and Barry concentrate on his health. Funds will go to Barry's medical expenses in addition to travel costs and lost wages by both Barry and Melanie.
Thank you for your prayers, support and well wishes. Barry Strong!
