Hi, my name is Sandie and I’m a longtime friend of Betty and Tom. Recently Tom was diagnosed with stage 4 Esophageal Cancer which was a shock to them. They had spent the month of March in Florida visiting family and friends and had a new great grandchild to visit while they were there. Their daughter Kris who also has Multiple Myeloma was the focus of the trip to support her. The baby brought so much joy and they came home happy .

Tom has been a lifetime fisherman and has been enjoying the sport as a serious hobby. Betty has her dog sports and this has kept them both active and happy in retirement. Now they are facing a big battle with his new diagnoses. The testing and treatment is very expensive even though the process has just begun. He has more scans and biopsies to do before they create a treatment plan. Even with insurance the co pays and fees that won’t be covered will add up quickly. The hope is to help reduce this burden so their life saving won’t be taken.

Not long ago they celebrated their 52nd anniversary and still are very in love and connected.

Toms mother is 105 and he visits her often and up until this year she was living with one of their daughters. He has done her chores and groceries for many years , always there for his family.
