Friends and neighbors,
The boy with the best hugs needs our help. After several weeks of battling ongoing and unresolved infections, our friend, Blake Barry was admitted to Texas Children's Hospital in the medical center over Easter weekend for further testing. A bone marrow biopsy revealed that Blake has a rare condition known as aplastic anemia that occurs when the body stops producing enough new blood cells.
Blake’s doctors have determined that a bone marrow transplant is necessary to treat Blake’s condition. This will require chemotherapy, a donor match for the transplant, and extended inpatient hospital care while he recovers. This will be a long process with plenty of challenges along the way.
A GoFundMe has been set up to ease the burden of expenses such as parking, travel, meals, medical expenses, and any unforeseen future expenses.
Blake is a senior student athlete at Stratford High School and will be graduating on May 24, 2025. He will most likely miss many of his graduation celebrations and events due to his treatments. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Please share this with your friends and family. Prayers are also appreciated!
