Donate to help Bob with medical expenses.

My name is Mike Gigliodoro, and I am trying to help raise some money to help my family with my dad's medical bills.

My father, Bob, was cruising with his family to celebrate his 50th anniversary. They had just left the Dominican Republic on Friday, November 18, 2022, and were looking forward to one more day at sea before returning to Miami and flying home to Rhode Island.

Dad was swimming with a few of his grandchildren before dinner. They got out of the pool to go to dinner. As they were walking, he was having trouble breathing and knew he wouldn't make it to his room. He sat in the dining hall and asked someone to call my mom because he couldn't breathe. Then he vomited, and we had to call the medical center on board, and the medics had to transport him to the medical center.

Once he was in the medical center, it was determined that he could not breathe on his own. After about an hour, they were finally able to intubate him successfully. He remained sedated and on a ventilator. About 24 hours later, on Saturday, November 19, 2022, he went into v-tach (ventricular tachycardia). The doctors worked around the clock to keep him alive until they were able to get him to Miami.

He is now stable in Miami; they are treating him for pneumonia because they think he aspirated when he vomited or inhaled a bacteria. However, they are still not 100% sure what ended up causing all this.

Since medical insurance does not cover medical bills from out of the country, my parents got off the ship with a $15,000 medical bill. On top of that, they remain in Miami, where dad is admitted, racking up hotel, food and ride bills.
