Donate to help Candy Gill battle Ovarian cancer

Hello, I am Candy Gill’s sister, Kim, and I am fundraising to help Candy with mounting medical expenses from battling Ovarian cancer. Candy was first diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in January 2022. When the doctors did a scope, they determined the cancer had been too extensive for immediate surgery. Instead, they started Candy on three chemotherapy treatments each three weeks apart that were very grueling. Each time she started with the chemo treatment, she had an allergic reaction to the chemo drugs and the drugs had to be administered very slowly each time. The chemo did a great job of shrinking the cancer in her abdomen. However, when they performed the operation on April 18, they discovered that she had two cancer tumors: the first original ovarian tumor and a second “shed and spread” tumor that was attached to both the small and large intestine. In addition to performing the hysterectomy, they also had to remove sections of her small and large intestine where the second tumor was located. Following the surgery, the doctors will do three more rounds of chemo treatments. The first was on May 17 and she recently had the second one on June 6.

Candy has been a real trooper and positive inspiration throughout all of this. I believe her nursing education and experience has enabled her to handle this stressful situation with tremendous grace. She works at nursing homes in Montana where she provides love and support to so many elderly people who are in their final chapters of life and, in many instances, do not have any family members remaining or are unable to visit them. She easily provides them with the last bit of love and support they receive on earth.

Unfortunately, the medical bills have quickly surpassed expectations. To further complicate matters, her employer had switched to a new insurance company on April 1 which resulted in new higher out-of-pocket deductibles that need to be met before insurance will provide coverage. Her medical expenses have already exceeded $50,000 of which they have already had to pay over $5,000 out-of-pocket. She still has additional CT scans and another chemo treatment. We are hoping and praying that after these treatments the cancer will be in remission but that is unknown at this time.

Anyone who knows Candy knows how carefully she budgets, saves and plans for financial expenses. On several occasions throughout the years, she and her husband, David, have graciously opened up their home to help friends and family members get back on their feet both emotionally and financially. Many of you who know Candy know that she is the kindest person you would ever want to meet and the most loyal friend. She has planned and saved so carefully throughout her entire life that she never thought she would ever be in the position of needing financial help in this way. I am dearly asking for you to make a donation to help Candy get through this challenging time. All donations go directly to Candy to help her with the mounting medical expenses.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support!
