To tell someone’s story with emotion, compassion and beauty, it is the job of a filmmaker to shed light on stories that need to be told. I am a 19-year-old filmmaker from a small village outside of Harare, Zimbabwe with a passion for videography and storytelling while looking at life through a camera lens.
My love for videography is rooted in my life at the village. Growing up in a small, poor community I began to look at the lives of those around me as a story that needed to be told.
When I first picked up a camera, I began by telling the story of my land. I watched as my community cared for each other, tended to the land, growing food and raising animals and hosted gatherings and workshops for people near and far from our village. Everyday I watch schoolchildren learn, create and grow together and the people working together to create a home. I form a connection with my subjects and I use their voice to illuminate their perspectives as well as bringing my own individual uniqueness to my work.
My growing love for creating films has sprouted into a life goal of traveling around the globe to find unique, important and unheard stories from all kinds of people to share with the world.
For those of us who have a dream but lack the resources to ignite them, we look to the worldwide community for support.
I want to use my full potential to make a difference and contribute my skills to the world.
I would like to use the money that is donated to get myself new equipment that is crucial for making professional level films such as a new camera, tripod, stabilizer equipment and a gimbal. Additionally, I will use the money for traveling expenses such as obtaining a passport, flights fare, transportation and accommodations.
