Donate to help Chris Tardieu with his Recovery

Donation protected
On Easter Sunday of 2022, Chris was involved in a motorcycle accident in the Angeles Crest National Forest. Through no fault of his own, a front tire rock puncture and/or a mechanical issue, he lost control of the motorcycle going into a turn and hit a berm that shot he and his bike off the side of the mountain.

Chris was 300ft down and sustained severe injuries to the right side of his body with spinal/ nerve damage, along with a fracture to his T7-T9 vertebrae, and an injury to his right leg. While he had no hemorrhaging in his brain, a crash of this magnitude did leave him with a
sustained trauma to his brain. His cognitive skills are intact, but his short-term memory and word association seem to be impacted.

There is no reason to believe this will not heal with the correct treatment plan. Chris has stabilized since the accident, and his family has worked diligently to find him the best possible treatment to ensure he recovers.

Initially, Chris was airlifted to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, CA. We are grateful that Chris received the care he did during his stay. However, we realized that Huntington Hospital had done everything they are capable of to assist in his recovery and that his injuries need specialized care.

We have secured a spot for him at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO- just outside of Denver. Craig specializes in Spinal Cord Injury, and we feel it is the best chance Chris has at recovering. The rehabilitation process will be long. He will be part of an inpatient care program followed by outpatient rehabilitation. The total recovery of his shoulder injury alone will be 4-6 months. Overall, the rehabilitation process could be years. In the early stages of recovery, and because he will be in Colorado, away from his home in LA and his family, it will be necessary for the family to be in Colorado. The rehabilitation will impact Chris not only during the next few years but also his family.

Chris is a very private person, and it has taken a great deal of convincing for him to allow us to ask for help. However, we firmly believe that the outpouring of love and support we have received in the past weeks is why he has maintained the strength to continue fighting.

With gratitude, we thank you for all the prayers and support, both for Chris and our family. Any support you are able to offer is greatly appreciated, whether it be in financial or otherwise.
