Eric Isaiah Walker is just 25 years old, but we will forever call him our Champion. “Charming,” “life-of-the-party,” “funny,” and “charismatic” are a few of the words Eric’s family and friends would use to describe him. Eric is the son of Maria and Eric Walker and the oldest brother of his 2 younger siblings, Xavier and Christopher. Eric played Football and sprinted and jumped hurdles on the Track and Field team for St. Rita High School in Chicago, IL, where he set school, conference and state records.

Eric first came to Minnesota on an athletic scholarship to the University of Minnesota to run track, where he continued to break records for his events. His motto was always academics first, athletics second, and through his hard work, he graduated with a 3.8 GPA. After graduating in 2019, Eric remained in Minnesota working for United Health Group where he has formed many relationships that he holds near and dear to him. According to his supervisor and coworkers, he is an amazing kid to be around. Throughout his time at UHG, he has been promoted to sales and focused on meeting those high goals that he set for himself.

Unfortunately, Saturday, August 27, 2022, Eric was a victim of a tragic car accident as a result of senseless and irresponsible driving and is currently fighting for his life in critical condition in the ICU.

While Eric may not be able to do his typical favorite things like break out in a dance, crack a joke leaving the entire room in stitches, cuddle with his puppy, Stacee, or spend time with his baby brothers. His family and friends have traveled from California, Illinois, Georgia, Wisconsin, Indiana, Texas and a myriad of other places to be with him and show support during this trying time. His visitors go all the way back to extended family, friends from elementary school, high school, and college, teammates, InRoads, and his UHG team. This kid has maintained lifelong friendships and impacted the lives of so many people.

While this brief summary doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the impact, joy and love Eric brings into the lives of all of his family and friends, hopefully, it gives you an idea of the various ways he’s made their lives better simply by being him.
