Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to share the story of my cousin Farren, who’s been facing something no one should ever have to endure at 25.
After 2yrs of unusual symptoms of twitching/pins and needles in her L arm, she had a seizure in April. This led to a debulking R Craniotomy surgery in May at Brisbane’s PAH. Then in June Farren, Jan and John were given the devastating news that she has a rarer primary brain cancer.
Since then, Farren has shown immense bravery, facing this head-on with the loss of her independence by having her licence put on hold due to her seizure/surgery, undergoing fertility treatment, 33 rounds of radiation causing intense hair loss and now she is staring down the barrel of a year or more of oral chemotherapy.
Obviously, all of this is incredibly daunting and has taken a tremendous toll on her physically and on all of us emotionally. The future is unknown and there remains a mountain to climb, but we are extremely hopeful of a positive journey.
To give Farren the best chance of achieving successful outcomes, Jan is leading Farren through a long-term science based metabolic approach of a grass-fed ketogenic diet, IF, change of lifestyle habits, cleaner living environment, emotional counselling, stress reduction, mind-body practices, muscle creation exercise, supplements, hair regrowth supplements and technology, uber/taxi costs to regain independence and accessing integrative health specialists and therapies. Very few of these options are cheap and some are very expensive.
Jan and John, are doing everything they can to support Farren and her siblings McKenna and Finn. As you can imagine, the costs are mounting quickly, which is why I’ve set up this GoFundMe.
They say one of the hardest things to do is ask for help and I have to agree. Jan and John are the kind of people who would do anything for others and now they’re the ones who need support.
Many of you have asked how you can help, and right now, the best way is through financial support. This is probably the one thing you can do to help change the trajectory for Farren and our family. We would be so very grateful for anything you can contribute. To quote Paul Kelly “From little things big things grow.”
Farren has had to put so many things in her life on hold to focus on her health, and it’s heartbreaking to see her going through all of this.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Farren’s story and for any support you can give. It truly makes a difference.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Nicole Buckley (Farren’s cousin & niece of John Buckley & Jan Wyatt)
