Donate to help fund John’s funeral and memorial

UPDATE 2: John’s funeral was yesterday and it was fantastic to see so many people coming together to celebrate his life. This fundraiser will be closed down on 5th February so if anyone still wishes to make a donation towards a memorial, you will not be able to after this date.

My name is Jo and I want to raise money for the funeral and a memorial for our beloved John Troup.

John was attacked in our local pub, sustaining very serious head injuries. He fought hard for over 2 weeks but the damage was too great for him to ever have a life. He passed away aged only 53.

He was a dad, grandad, brother, son and friend to so many people. In Cambridge and in Bristol, he was well known for being a guy who would help anyone out with no expectation of anything in return. He was a skilled craftsman who used his talents to improve the lives of others.

He has left a hole in our lives that we can never fill and it’s worse because of the tragic way he died. His life was stolen from him when he had so much more love and joy to give and to receive. So much more to share.

I am asking everyone who knew him to please donate and share, spread this as far and wide as you can. We loved him so much and want to honour him by giving him the send off he deserves. Any surplus funds will be used to buy a gift for the nurses who took care of him and donated to Headway, a charity supporting people who have suffered head injuries.
