Donate to help fund Toby’s Operation

Last night was one terrifying night. Toby, our much-loved 4-year-old Labrador, suddenly fell very ill. His stomach became alarmingly large, and he just didn’t seem himself. We rushed him to the Rase Veterinary Hospital out of hours, where he was given painkillers and advice to observe him every two hours through the night.

Within an hour of being home, Toby went outside, unable to move or come back in. He was visibly struggling to open his bowels. With growing concern, I called the vet back, but they were in theatre. I was told to monitor him closely and call back if he dry-wretched. Moments later, Toby began dry-wretching, and I called again, but there was no vet available for 90 minutes. Knowing this was a life-threatening emergency, I rushed him to the Market Rasen Veterinary Hospital.

An X-ray confirmed the devastating news: Toby's stomach had twisted, along with his spleen and blood vessels, putting pressure on his heart. Immediate surgery was the only option to save him.

As much as it pained me, I had to sign off on an estimated £4,000 bill to save Toby’s life. Our insurance only covers a small proportion and I simply don’t have the funds to cover the rest.

Toby is more than just a dog – he’s family. He is adored by myself, my 5-year-old daughter, and our other dog, Lottie. He has brought so much love, joy, and laughter into our lives.
