Hi, my name is Sukhnoor. My 21-year-old sister Harnoor came to Australia few months ago to start her journey as a student in UWA. On 29th January 2025 unfortunately she had a road accident where she sustained serious injuries to her head and went into a coma. She was kept in the ICU at Royal Perth for 6 weeks and was in a critical condition with a potential risk of dying due to extreme swelling and bleeding in the brain. The doctors had to heavily sedate her and keep her in coma as the pressure in her brain was constantly high. The doctors then had to perform a life and death surgery called Crainiectomy in which they had to remove a part of the skull so that the swelling in the brain could reduce. This whole experience has been very traumatic for the family and mine and Harnoor's widow mother (Paramveer Kaur) had to come to Australia urgently to experience this ordeal on her own.
This whole year has been very tough for our family as only last year my father passed away who was the sole bread earner in the family as I am only 20 years old, and now as a family we have to deal with yet another hardship. We come from a very humble background and had sent my older sister abroad with all our savings so that she can get a better life and help us in some way.
Harnoor is a very loving, nurturing and a responsible human being, who wanted to come to Australia after my father’s death so that she could study and work hard to be the bread-earner for the family and elevate my family’s financial situation.
We our seeking this donation for Harnoor’s rehab expenses which could last more than a year and for my mother to stay in Australia during that time. The doctors have told us although her situation might improve but there is big possibility that she would have to live with some sort of disability for the rest of her life be it mental or physical and she might never be able to go to Uni again. Your kind donation would help ensure that she can get the best possible treatment and if her situation doesn’t improve drastically, she can come to live in India having some funds to help her for years to come.
Thank you for reading and please keep her in your prayer’s
