My name is James Rivers, I am 61 years old, and have been a born again Christian since 1984. In April of 2023, I took a job as a living care assistant for an elderly gentleman who is blind and has cancer in exchange for a room in his apartment to live rent free. Since the beginning of this job, my friend who I take care of has digressed immensely. He is now 100% blind, still has cancer, and has bouts of dementia. I know The Lord has placed me in his care and it is an honor to serve my friend and roommate. I myself in just over 2 years have had five heart attacks, quadruple bypass surgery, and in October 2023 had to have a heart stent put in. I am also a type 2 diabetic, taking up to five shots of insulin per day. Because of my health issues and caring full time to serve my friend, I have been unable to seek employment. If I leave my friend alone, there is no one else who can watch out for his full time needs. Due to the escalation of my friend's health, I'm afraid that this situation may be coming to one end soon and I am in dire need of financial assistance. I need to be able to find my own apartment and all the fixings to go along with it. This current job was in exchange for a room to live in only, no additional wages. I am still dealing with social security which seems to be taking their time making a decision. I have been in appeal for over 6 months now and still no end in sight despite my ongoing health issues.
