Donate to help Jason with medical bills

On Friday, August 4, Jason went to the ICU after suffering from overwhelming headaches. A CT scan and stay at Condell confirmed a mass on Jason’s brain requiring immediate attention.

Five days later, Jason underwent surgery at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago to remove a large tumor on the right frontal lobe of his brain. The surgery went well, but due to its size and location, the entire mass could not be removed.

Following the surgery, the doctor confirmed everyone’s worst nightmare: Jason’s tumor is malignant (cancerous)—a high-Grade Glioma, Grade 3 or 4.

It is treatable, but not curable.

We setup this fundraiser to help Jason and his family navigate the demands of his treatment. Before Jason can be cleared for treatment, he requires inpatient therapy. Staying at RUSH, Jason will participate in a neuro and acute rehab program for approximately 10 days, undertaking Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech therapy, and Psychological Rehab. Once Jason clears the recovery stage from his surgery, he will begin both chemotherapy and radiation therapy at RUSH, traveling back and forth between Lake Villa and downtown Chicago 5 days a week for 6 weeks. From the cost of travel and insurance limitations, to the loss of work for both Jason and Erika, these funds will help provide financial security to cover both immediate and future medical costs and needs.

Jason will live with his cancer for the rest of his life—beyond supporting Jason and his family with love, care, and optimistic hope, this fundraiser can hopefully take away concerns over bills so the family can concentrate on their healing and time together.

If you have ever spent any amount of time with Jason you know how special he is. He is a father and a husband. A friend and coworker. He brings joy to a party and levity to heavy moments.

And laughter. Always laughter.

He has spent his entire life giving to others, working endlessly to make sure everyone around him is taken care of. This is now a time where he needs the help and support of others. Let us unite to spread hope, love, and positivity to empower Jason on his recovery journey. Your generosity and support will have a lasting impact on his life and serve as a reminder of the power of community, friendship, and family in times of adversity.

Please consider donating, as all the money raised will go toward Jason’s medical bills, care, and recovery.
Erika is providing consistent updates on Jason’s well-being and treatment at the following website: https://sites.google.com/view/jasoncappert/home. As the family works to heal, please address any specific questions to Erika’s brother, Alex, or Jason’s brother, Jeff.

With love and appreciation,

Jason’s family and friends
