Hi, my name is Shelley Johnson, and I am setting up this fundraiser for a great couple, Jeremy and Holly Freudenrich, who are BOTH fighting cancer and are doing chemotherapy. I know neither one of them would ever ask for help themselves – even now, when they really need it. Please keep Jeremy and Holly in your prayers and if you are able, consider helping them financially by donating. Let’s rally together to let them know we are all fighting with them.
Jeremy & Holly's journey with cancer began October 6, 2022, when Jeremy had a routine colonoscopy. A large mass was causing complete blockage. The following week he had surgery to remove the mass and parts of his colon. The mass was examined, and it was confirmed - he had colon cancer which had possibly spread through the walls of his colon. In January, after Jeremy was deemed strong enough post-surgery, he began a 6-month regimen of chemotherapy with hopes of stopping any cancer that had metastasized to other organs. In June Jeremy will have scans to see if there is still cancer invading his body.
But their nightmare got much worse when just a few weeks later, while still dealing with the shock of finding out that Jeremy had cancer, Holly was not feeling well herself. Doctors ran extensive tests and scans to figure out what was going on. They discovered she has a large mass around one of the main valves of her heart causing serious issues. She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of B Cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which is fast growing inoperable type of cancer in her blood and lymph nodes. Because of the location of the mass, it cannot be surgically removed either.
Holly began chemotherapy immediately with hopes of shrinking the mass and killing the cancer. In the beginning it seemed to be working but just recently they found out it is not shrinking and is growing. Her team of doctors is trying to determine if a new plan of attack involving extremely high doses of chemo over 3 days and then having her go to the Mayo Hospital in Rochester for at least 30 days of bone marrow transplants is the next step.
Holly and Jeremy have been together 7 years and were engaged and planning their future wedding. Between them they have 4 daughters (ages 13, 13, 14, and 21), with the three younger ones still living at home. After Jeremy's diagnosis they decided to move up their wedding and were married on October 22, 2022, at their home with immediate family present.
They have been trying unselfishly to support each other through the fear and anguish of having cancer, as well as take care of each other through the pain caused by the cancer and the side effects of chemotherapy. In addition, they have been trying so hard to be active and keep life "normal" for their girls and give them the care and support kids need from their parents. They had both been going to work when they could, between doctor’s visits, chemo treatments, and on days they were not in pain or too exhausted to even get out of bed. Unfortunately, Holly will not be able to work during upcoming treatment and Jeremy will need to be with her. Their medical bills continue to pile up with no end in sight.
They both act so strong in front of everyone and don’t complain, but I know of the constant worry, physical pain, exhaustion, and fear they have been living with over the past 6 months. We don’t know what the future holds for Jeremy and Holly, but we do know they will continue to fight their cancers side-by-side. Thank you for your prayers and support.
