Donate to Help John Keeling Fight Cancer

Hello Everybody. I'm Mike Keeling, fundraising for my brother and dear friend, John.

John was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in January of this year. We received the news that he had some kind of cancer in the emergency room of Bryan West hospital. At this point, they did not know what kind of cancer it was, but they knew it was severe and would require running a whole bunch of tests. Later that day, John's excellent oncologist, Dr. Kailash Mosalpuria, informed us in a kind and gentle manner that prostate cancer had metastasized in his bones. Stage 4.....which NOBODY wants to hear. Dr. Mosalpuria was honest about the seriousness of John's condition but also cautiously optimistic about the chance for a good outcome with proper treatment. John now has six chemo treatments under his belt, with two more to go.

As too many of you already know, chemotherapy is...ahem...unpleasant. There have been very rough days/weeks and better ones. He has faced it with a good attitude and, most importantly, his trademark sense of humor. It is inspiring. He is responding well to treatment, but we still have a long way to go.

John is employed with Lincoln Public Schools and has not been able to work for months now. As he continues to fight, the medical bills are coming in and numbers keep rising. He cannot wait to return to work, but it remains to be seen when that will be a possibility. It will certainly be a few months.
