Donate to help Katie get back on her feet

Meet Katie Kirkland (Emily Kirkland is her legal name, but she goes by Katie), the most kind-hearted and self-less person who has dedicated their life and career to helping others.

Several years ago, Katie got very sick and her life was suddenly turned upside down financially due to the cost of surgeries and treatments without any income. Luckily during that time, Katie had a place she considered home. However, she has been forced out of her apartment that she lived in for 11 years because of poor living conditions caused by the landlord refusing to fix extreme mold damage. Instead, they increased the cost of rent which priced her out and forced her to evacuate - she is currently without a place live.

We are starting this GoFundMe for Katie to help her get back on her feet so she is able to move to a safe home. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover the cost between what Katie can afford and the higher rental costs of apartment living until she can get back to becoming more financially stable.

100% of funds raised will go towards Katie to pay for moving, rent, bills, school loans, etc.

Katie does so much for her community and would love to be able to stay in her current town of Leesburg, VA. Katie is most passionate about volunteering for her local church, petsitting for her furry friends, and most importantly her dream of becoming a Montessori teacher. Katie is always sacrificing her time and money to support her local church community; including running their annual Christmas dinner that feeds 450 people and provides hundreds of toys and clothes to children in need (cover photo).

Katie’s dream with her Montessori teaching degree is to open up a little school for kids who are in the foster care system, or who have been traumatized, or who are living in deep poverty; where each child is given a scholarship and a sponsor to follow them through their educational journey. Katie wants to give opportunity to the unseen, the rejected, those who need a chance. Now, Katie is in desperate need of her chance.

Katie is the kind of person who never asks for help, but she is so deserving of it.
