Katja, or Kat, as I like to call her, had an exceptional start to 2022 with the birth of her beautiful baby boy, Grayson, on February 7, 2022. Grayson was born completely healthy, but Kat began experiencing strange side effects that she believed were caused by the strenuous process of giving birth. Days after giving birth, Kat started to get dizzy after standing up, having terrible headaches, partial loss of hearing in her left ear, and other symptoms. On April 6th, Kat was scheduled for an MRI to further investigate the potential cause.
A couple of hours after that MRI, a doctor called and told Kat that they had found a head tumor. Kat, a day later, was diagnosed with vestibular schwannoma, a noncancerous tumor on the main nerve leading from the inner ear to the brain.
Kat will undergo surgery sometime in the next 3-6 weeks to remove as much of the tumor as possible. She will then spend at least one day in the ICU and an additional 2-3 days following the ICU stay in the hospital. Depending on how well the surgery goes, she may also need additional radiation treatments.
If you can, please help contribute to Katja's hospital and medical bills while she goes through this immensely difficult time in her life, it would be very much appreciated.
