Help Laura Howard’s recovery

Hi, my name is Pam Lacy, and I’m looking for support for my niece, Laura Howard. She is a young and vibrant 29-year-old who has recently suffered severe life-threatening health issues.

Laura had gone to four doctors concerning headaches that ultimately sent her to the ER. She was sent home with a diagnosis of a sinus infection. The next day, on October 7, Laura woke up with double vision that took her back to the emergency room. After an MRI and CT Scans, she was diagnosed with an aneurysm and transferred to ICU for three days. There was a brain bleed which affected her left eye. On October 10th, she underwent brain surgery to clip the aneurysm. During the surgery, she had a stroke. Due to the brain bleed and stroke, she has severe right-sided weakness. Her right arm is not moving, and she is getting limited movement in her right leg.

She has spent ten days in ICU, receiving stabilizing care and rehabilitative services. Laura is on a journey to heal and recover from these traumatic events. She will still need extensive rehabilitative therapy following her hospitalization. Currently, Laura cannot work, and her insurance policy is limited in what it will cover. Her insurance will only cover 17 days of in patient rehabilitation. The policy will not cover all the rehab she needs.

Laura is an active, spirited young woman who has suffered a life-altering event. Following her hospital discharge, she will be on her own and will need assistance with all activities of daily living. Laura will not have any income to cover outpatient therapy or living expenses. She is in need of help, as she is not able to return to work or drive for the next several months.

It’s imperative for Laura to have help and receive all the love and support she can get. She has a brilliant mind and wants desperately to return to her life as before. Laura loves yoga and the outdoors. She kayaks, bikes, and goes on adventures with her fur baby Kita.

All funds received will help Laura cover medical expenses, living expenses, and outpatient therapy while she recovers. She is showing promise every day by having some feelings return to her limbs and some small moments return to her right leg.
