Hi, my name is Cade and I am part of the staff at Sandgate District State High School team hoping to raise money for Laura Platt. Shockingly she has been diagnosed with stage 4 Cervical Cancer at the young age of 30 and has been given the prognosis of 18 months.

 

Laura Platt is a teacher at Sandgate District State High School who is much loved by students and staff in the educational and sporting industry. She has touched countless lives with her passionate, professional and caring teaching approach.

 

Laura's cancer was categorised at stage 1b in 2021. After two surgeries she was considered 'cancer free' until a recent checkup saw the tumour had grown back; this time aggressively.

 

Laura needs more than just Chemotherapy to save her life. Together with Chemo, Laura will also be treated with the immunotherapy drug called Pembrolizumab which costs $6300 every 3 weeks and has resulted in her and her fiancé Evan having to remortgage their house.

 

Her loving fiancé Evan Morris is a beacon of support, together with her family, friends and teaching community. Unfortunately love alone is not enough to save Laura's life.

 

We are hoping to raise money to help her medical costs so that she can have the best chance at winning this battle.
