Dear LC friends,
We had some difficulty recently with supposed complaints from neighbors via the township.
We spoke to all those surrounding us, and after due diligence, it’s a mystery where the complaints came from. (we were always super careful to respect noise levels and such.)
Due to the preceding event, it has been brought to our attention that we must secure a permit from zoning to be able to stay in business. (this involves having a lawyer, potential other professionals and other associated fees)*
For the time being, this is how we're able to support ourselves with living expenses. Since the pandemic and inflation, it’s been even more challenging for us to do so.
We’re hiring a reputable attorney in this field.
(they’ve secured permits and approvals for green leaf pet resorts.)
Given the support of our neighbors and clients, it appears to be hopeful for approval.
The legal fees and zoning costs are high, and we need your help to proceed.
The estimated costs are $15,000 (to begin and hopefully be enough for the duration of the process.)
We're a small-scale in-house business that caters to people with small-size doggies that would otherwise not leave their little loves in a traditional kennel.
There is a surplus of dogs in the area and NJ to the point that all kennels aren't even taking new clients, and don't have room to facilitate all the incoming requests for boarding, so we know we can't possibly be taking business away from them.
We are doing our best to fight through this.
We don't have too many options left.
That's why we're reaching out and asking you for any help possible to continue to care for your loved ones.

“We anticipate that you would also be responsible for hiring additional professionals, including a professional engineer and a professional planner. Our office can provide recommendations for same. We can also solicit proposals from said professionals for your consideration.
You would also be responsible for the application fees and escrow deposits payable to Manalapan Township. Based on my review of the ordinance, the application fee for this use variance is $600.00 and the initial escrow deposit is $3,000.00. These sums are estimated which we would need to confirm with Manalapan Township staff. Please note that additional application fees and escrow deposits may be required if the Township deems site plan approval to be required in addition to the use variance.”
P.S.
Some of you already wrote letters for us that have been very helpful, and we may reach out for more letters and support in the near future.
