Hey, I am Kami. I live with quadriplegic cerebral palsy (CP) and Dissociative Identity disorder (DID) in Kansas, a state that doesn't know how to care for either. I have been left helpless without care because workers do not arrive, or come in too drunk to function. I have friends who want to help me get to southern California, where I will have a much better quality of life and care. However, I need the money to make this happen. I would be so thankful if you are able to help. In order to understand more of our story, please read on below (trigger warning, it gets rough). 


I was born two and a half months early and only weighed 3lb 9oz. this was caused by, both the actions of the doctors who refused to act and our father, who pushed my mother to work while she was pregnant at his cleaning company. Then, I spent the next part of my life being sexually abused by my grandmother as a way to gain sympathy, while also abusing me to the level that my brain couldn't cope. The sexual abuse we endured was atrocious, and what you can imagine would be correct. Due to all of the abuse, my mind split into several identities so that we could survive. 

When we came out as a trans-woman, we were kicked out of our house. We were also told by my grandmother that she would much rather we were dead, and offered to buy us a gun to do so. After getting away from her, we had to depend on home health care for all of our daily needs. However, there is a recent problem. We have spent years not getting the proper care, sometimes being left alone laying in bed for whole days. I have had: money, medicine, and even my Nintendo Switch stolen. We would have to beg our mother for her help, as she is disabled herself. 

One morning, despite calling our home healthcare agency, we were left without care and in a wet bed. After more than an hour of waiting, our mother finally agreed that she would get us out. She was getting us into the bathroom, where she fell and broke her hip. She may never walk again. She will never be able to help me again. 

The home healthcare provided by the state is not setup to care if we live or die. The state, itself, has done nothing after hundreds of reports. We believe the system is broken and they seem to have no intent on fixing it. We are in hell and we have to get to a state where we will be protected and provided better care. The difficult issue about that is we are on SSI, and I am not allowed to save more than 2k in total. Every dollar over that that we make, our rent will increase and we might lose our health care all together. We are blessed to have friends who are willing to help, but they cant do it on their own.
