As you may know, I am trying to raise funds to fix up my home. I've reached out to FEMA, MEMA, and United Way, but unfortunately, they informed me that Warren County has only sustained minor damages, which means no assistance is available for our area. The president approved aid for other counties, but we were left out.

Due to this lack of support, I've had to rely on my siblings to help me cut down some trees around my property. I have a chainsaw, but I really need a few more to get the job done efficiently. Additionally, there has been damage inside the house that requires cleaning up. I need panels, wood, screws, and bathroom fixtures, including a new bathtub, shower, toilet, sink, and painting materials. My kitchen also needs painting and repairs, and my other home on the property sustained major damage as well.

I've attempted to apply for grants, but the red tape has made it nearly impossible to get any aid. I was told that if I could provide $3,000, they could arrange to have the trees cut down, but I simply do not have that kind of money. It’s frustrating to know that even volunteers can't help due to liability issues.

As if that wasn't enough, I've also faced personal hardships, including the recent loss of my father due to inadequate healthcare. The experience was devastating, and it has compounded my current challenges.

I'm also faced with the realities of homeownership—HUD loans require inspections and insurance that I currently cannot afford. I had home insurance for eight years, but with the damages now, I’m reconsidering selling the property for a cash offer, though I still hold hope that people will come together to help.

I am aiming to cut down the trees and make necessary repairs, including upgrading the homes with new furniture, appliances, roofing, and essential utilities. The longer I wait, the harder it gets.
