Donate to help Melissa with surgical bills

Hello, my name is Erin and I’m writing on behalf of my sweetheart, Melissa Swaggerty. Melissa has recently been told she has a tumor on her kidney and will be undergoing a partial nephrectomy on July 20. The tumor is categorized in size as Stage One and her scans have gratefully shown no lymph node involvement and there are no other visible tumors in the surrounding organs or tissue. Once the tumor is removed, we will have the full pathology report and plans for next steps. 80% of kidney tumors are renal cell carcinoma, and this has been a very unsettling discovery. We are so fortunate to have caught the tumor so early, but a cancer diagnosis is always terrifying.

Many of you know Melissa to be a good friend, generous and kind. She is a hard worker in all endeavors and always brings humor and fun to every occasion. She is very dear to me.

Within the week, Melissa will be having a robotically assisted partial nephrectomy with at least one night in the hospital. I will be caring for her at home for 5 days after, where I will be forcing her to stay on the couch.

It is always awkward to fundraise for one’s personal necessity, but I couldn’t think of a more deserving person. If you are able to contribute anything to help offset her surgical and hospital bills, she would be so grateful and it would definitely decrease the financial strain she suddenly finds herself under.
