Donate To Help Mick Allan, Carrie Hamm & Family

On 20th April 2023 Mick was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, sending the family into shock, worry and despair.
This serious, life threatening condition requires immediate intensive treatment for the best chance of recovery.
Mick has been sent to Leeds St James - 25 miles from York - where he will be an inpatient for 5 weeks, then hopefully a weeks break at home if well enough, before resuming as an inpatient.
It’s very likely that he’ll need blood transfusions and a bone marrow transplant down the line. Treatment is likely ongoing for a period of two years.

The whole family is shattered and worried that Mick is facing this horrific situation. And now the stark reality of financial worry is creeping in too.

I’m hoping we can raise £15,000. A sum which represents Mick’s loss of earnings for the next 6 months. This will go towards the family’s living costs and expenditure arising from travel to and from Leeds and providing the nutrition and support Mick will need.

Both self employed, Carrie and Mick were already facing real financial pressure from the rising cost of living, but this illness means that Mick will be unable to work for at least the next six months, possibly longer. Mick may never be able to go back to his physical plumbing work, and Carrie’s work will be impacted by Mick’s need for care.
Mick has already recovered from testicular cancer in 1990 which is why he doesn’t have critical illness insurance cover.

The wonderful family man and Other Half to my dear friend Carrie came into their lives around 15 years ago.
He stepped up and supported Carrie and her four children after the loss of Carrie’s husband and father to the children.
This is the mark of the kind of man Mick is; loyal, there if you need him, a rock and an anchor to his family. Supportive to many a cause close to his heart and to the friends he holds dear.

Carrie and Mick have always supported people in times of need, both practically and financially. Now it’s their time of need. Any amount that you can give will ease the burden that this family are having to bear.

Collectively we can ensure that all their resources can go into supporting Mick, getting him well and getting him home, where he belongs
