Help Mike as he battles brain cancer

Meet the Bayleys — Mike, Brandy, and their pride and joy, daughter Ella. This beautiful and courageous couple has been humbly navigating life as a family affected by cancer for many years, guided by faith, hope, and love.

Many know Mike well as a devoted family man, sports enthusiast, and active member of his church. He is modest, selfless, and loving, with a great sense of humour. What many do not know is that he has been living with a brain tumour for 22 years. In that time he has defied the odds and courageously faced every challenge and setback that has faced him — 2 brain surgeries, 26 cycles of chemotherapy, and 12 weeks of radiation therapy.

In 2023 Mike underwent his second brain surgery, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Tragically, Mike and Brandy learned soon after surgery that there were high grade cancer cells found in the tumour. This news shattered their world. Furthermore, the surgery and radiation caused damage to brain tissue surrounding the tumour, which has severely and progressively affected Mike’s function. Mike now struggles daily with falls, weakness, coordination, memory, and speech, making activities like walking, transferring, eating, and stairs, to name a few, both challenging and risky. He has endured many hours of speech, occupational, and physical therapy, but unfortunately has not been able to regain his previous abilities. With Mike’s decline in health and function his care needs have increased significantly, and his medical team has recently advised that he requires 24/7 care.

We have created this GoFundMe page in hopes of offering some additional comfort and security to Mike and Brandy during this devastating time. It is our mission to help them provide much needed additional care so that Mike can continue to live safely at home for as long as possible. We want to ensure they are able to pay for the additional care and medical equipment required.

Mike and Brandy are humble and gracious people, who have always been generous with their time and resources with all those who know them. They have been uplifted by the support of those around them and are grateful for all those who have helped them thus far.
