On October 17th, Mykl Neufeld made a heroic attempt to stop a teen from being bullied

and injured. The result landed him in the hospital with a broken ankle, a fractured skull,

bleeding on the brain, seven staples in his head, and memory loss. The attackers turned their violent intentions to Mykl when he tried to help the teen. He did his best to defend himself, but they outnumbered him 4 to 1. Mykl was knocked unconscious, but that didn’t stop the attackers from continuing their assault. The teen Mykl tried to help ended up pulling the attackers off and calling 911. An ironic turn of events.

Mykl, a 53-year-old outdoor enthusiast, marathon runner and avid cyclist, was born in

Fresno, California. Mykl has been a Utah resident for over a year and has positively impacted his community in such a short time. Mykl is a unique and genuine person with a great outlook on life. His overall hope is that these kids learn a valuable lesson and also states, "I think we, as a society, need to be better. We need to make better judgments and just need to be better human beings to each other." Mykl’s efforts were a great example of this, if only there were more people like him.

Over a month later, Mykl continues to struggle with constant headaches, difficulty

concentrating, blurry vision, a limp, and a sore ankle. All he wants is to be able to ride his bike again, which is his only mode of transportation, put this traumatizing event behind him and get back to a normal life.
