In September 2022, my co-worker and close friend, Nan McNair, was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH), a rare lung disorder that ultimately affects the lungs, heart, and life expectancy.
PPH can lead to heart failure creating a need for a heart and lung transplant. At its best, it’s a lifelong effort to treat and slow down progressive symptoms while attempting to maintain some semblance of a quality of life. For Nan, she’ll be lifelong dependent upon medicine given through a subcutaneous pump through her stomach every 4 hours, every day, for the rest of her life.
There’s no cure, but treatment is available to help improve the signs and symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. The silver lining here is that Nan is one of the most resilient, determined (and stubborn) people I’ve ever met, and there is no shortage of willpower. However, being on a single-family household income, treatment presents many challenges. The cost in time, inability to work, and financial obligations are outstanding (~$50,000 monthly for medicine and required doctor visits) and obviously overwhelming.
We are asking for your support to help offset these costs and assist Nan and her family while they navigate this new normal. This Go Fund Me was set up to help relieve some of the burdens of Nan’s ever-increasing medical bills that are not covered by insurance.
We'd like to recognize the outpouring of support from friends, family, and clients. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and contributions.
Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.
