Well, sumbitch!! If you've had the pleasure of spending any time with our dad, Pat Dolan, then we have no doubt you've heard him muttering this phrase under his breath. Maybe even not so under his breath! (Long before Dwayne Johnson raised an eyebrow, shook his boobies and made it a thing)!! If there has ever been a more appropriate time to scream curse words from the rooftops, I can't think of one. You see, Pat has suddenly been diagnosed with Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma. AKA, tonsil cancer........SUMBITCH!!!!!!

 

If you've spent any time with us, you will probably know that we are seldom at a loss for words and hate asking for help. However, we are at a loss of words because the reality of the situation requires no words. Just feelings. It is a humbling experience to ask for help, but it's the least we can do for a man who has given us so much. A man who taught me (Amanda), that sometimes water is thicker than blood and chose 3-year-old me to be his daughter when he married my mom. Pat chose to love me when I needed it, and I will never be able to repay him, but I can try.

 

The foreseeable future is filled with chemotherapy and radiation. Life with cancer also comes with the burden of massive medical expenses and the loss of income. My sister Amy and I hope that through the kindness and compassion of friends he has made along the way, we will be able to relieve some of the pressure pressing down on our parents as they face this scary time of uncertainties. It is impossible to heal one's body while under profound stress.

 

Our prayer is that our dad can focus on healing and not climbing medical bills. Our prayer is that our dad's body will be healed, and he will soon be cancer-free. We appreciate you. We love you.
