Patti Heffernan - Flynn grew up in "the ridges" of Stamford, attended Willard School, TOR and is a proud Graduate of Westhill High School - 1983. For years, she marched for the Springdale - Silhouettes Drum & Bugle Corp., her involvement continued in numerous Football & Hockey leagues, the Stamford Boys & Girls Club and as a active volunteer at the Hospital bringing smiles & laughter to the children as "Sunshine, the clown."
Today, Patti needs your help as she fiercely fights her recent diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS is a progressive and terminal disease that affects motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness and loss of control. Regrettably, this disease severely affects not just physical capabilities and emotional state but also financial security.
All who have known Patti in her various roles as wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, coach, and colleague agree that her kindness and compassion are boundless. She is always quick to lend a listening ear, offer words of wisdom, and provide comfort and prayer to those in distress. Her genuine concern for others is evident in every action she takes, and her selflessness is truly inspiring. It is Patti's unwavering faith and spirit that truly touches the hearts of all who know her. Even in the face of adversity, she holds onto her beliefs and displays the courage to choose right over wrong, ethics over convenience, and truth over popularity. Patti’s faith has served as a beacon of hope for those around her, and her strength has been a testament to the power of perseverance and determination. She has never needed that strength more than she does now.
Throughout her life Patti has contributed to the well-being of others. Her family home (shared over the years with three foster children) has been a warm and welcoming environment for those seeking a sense of belonging. Neighborhood kids were always welcome to make pizza, build a snowman, run through a sprinkler, or simply knock on the door whenever they needed guidance.
Patti now embarks on the most challenging & most difficult journey. The enemy may be formidable, but one thing we know for sure is that ALS will never affect Patti’s infectious spirit – the spirit that radiates her core values of never giving up, never giving in, and always fighting with all her might for what she believes in so that change can improve the lives of others.
A diagnosis of ALS is tragic, even more so when it hits someone as selfless as Patti. Our hope is that those whose lives Patti has touched over the years will consider contributing to help her as she fights this terrible disease. No contribution is insignificant, each act of kindness helps alleviate the financial strain that accompanies this diagnosis. Every dollar brings us closer to making a meaningful impact.
Our family expresses deep gratitude and endless appreciation to all who join us in this fundraising mission. Thank you and may God bless you.
