Donate to help Prof. Ernani's liver transplant

Hi, my name is Luis Pedroso. I am appealing to the generous hearts of the readers to raise funds for Prof. Ernani “Nani” Ramos Bullecer’s liver transplant, his only hope for a cure. Prof. Nani is in the prime of his life at 44 years old. He is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Nutrition, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila), one of the campuses of the National State University.
Nani is a good friend of mine. We used to reside at the same dormitory and work together as student assistants at the University of the Philippines Main Library during our college years at UP Diliman. He supports his immediate family financially. Nani was a very determined and diligent student. He emerged as the Board Topnotcher (1st Placer) when he took up the Philippines’ Nutrition and Dietetics licensure exam in 2001. He then completed his Master of Public Health degree with the highest Comprehensive Examination in 2009 and his Doctor of Public Health (Nutrition) program at UP Manila in 2017.
He used to teach undergraduate and graduate students and coordinate and published academic research projects, and volunteer to lead organizations. As a testament to his excellence in his chosen field, he has been awarded several recognitions, such as Professorial Chair Awards for Teaching, Research and Public Service. Unfortunately, he has been in and out of The Medical City Hospital Liver Center since May 2022 due to his chronic liver failure secondary to liver cirrhosis. He was confined for decompensation and septic shock from September until the end of October 2022, which almost claimed his life, but by God’s grace, he survived. The expenses during this confinement have taken their toll on his meagre resources. Fortunately, with the help of his former students whom he has mentored, friends and colleagues, he settled his medical expenses during his confinement.
According to his doctors, Nani’s only hope for a cure is a liver replacement, and he is undergoing a pre-transplant evaluation. His wife Carmian, volunteered to donate part of her liver to save Nani’s life. The estimated cost for a non-complicated liver transplant at the Medical City is 5 million pesos, roughly 125,000 dollars. There is no universal health care in the Philippines, and such an amount is needed to save his life, way beyond the reach of a promising academician’s actual income. I humbly appeal for your generosity to please let us help keep Nani. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, and may God bless your generosity a hundred fold.
