Hi my name is Ciara Grainger and i’m looking for anybody who wants to help my little girl Ruby. Ruby is 7 years old and on Saturday the 5th of October she experienced a tragic accident no child should ever have to go through, Ruby was out going over to the ice cream van on our road and there was a fire lighting on the main field outside my house and as Ruby was crossing back over to come home something blew up in the fire and hit Ruby in her right eye. Ruby was rushed to Tallght hospital in an ambulance and they had a look at her eye and said she needed to be transferred to the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear hospital for emergency surgery. They checked her eye and sent her up to a room and the next morning she was brought down for surgery which they said that she had a 50% chance of losing her eye. When the doctors came back we got absolutely heartbreaking news to know that Ruby had lost her right eye. It was very devastating for Ruby as she is very self conscious because of kids her age bullying her. Ruby is such a bright and positive child and she is very thoughtful and affectionate, there are many more words to describe Ruby as she is an amazing and bright child. I’m putting this up here to make sure that people know what happened. I hope and pray that people can know that i would never ever wish this to happen to any other child or for another family to go through. Ruby now has to get a prosthetic eye which is going to be hard to get used to for a 7 year old. Ruby is going to have to experience very big changes in life for a child her age. Some of are which, Ruby will have to go to a vision impaired school as well as normal school, Ruby will also never be able to go to play like she used to, Ruby also has to learn to balance again due to having a blind side, and the biggest one is Ruby is no longer able to see out of her right eye. That is very upsetting for a little girl her age, so please everyone every little helps and we would appreciate it so much
