Hi, my name is Morgan MacLean and Sandy is my 11 year old orange baby. Sandy came into my life in 2017 during a time when we both desperately needed one another, and he has been my constant companion ever since. For 8 years I have committed myself to caring for Sandy, no matter what, and now I need your help.
Sandy was diagnosed with severe asthma and diabetes in 2019 after an incredibly long fight to receive adequate care. In 2021 I took Sandy to a cardiologist to assure he was receiving the proper care he needs for his asthma. Since 2021 Sandy has lived a life free of asthma symptoms and flare ups.
On Friday, February 28th Sandy began experiencing severe respiratory distress and was rushed to an emergency vet hospital. After a series of bloodwork, a glucose panel, and radiographs, he was sent home with a rescue inhaler. Despite receiving a rescue inhaler for his asthma, Sandy began declining on Sunday March 2 and was again rushed to an emergency vet hospital. He was deemed critical and is being hospitalized at minimum overnight for monitoring. His lung capacity is significantly reduced on the right side and he needs extensive round the clock care for the time being. We also found out that Sandy’s diabetes is no longer responding appropriately to his insulin, and this is contributing to his critical status.
Sandy is currently responding to an oxygen treatment and diuretic's, however the underlying issue remains unsolved, and his diabetes remains unmanaged while we fight to figure out what’s going on. Sandy is receiving incredible care at the Coastal Care Emergency Vet Clinic, and in order to ensure he continues receiving the care he needs we need your help with vet bills. The current quote is 5,000 dollars, and this number is expected to rise as his care continues for his asthma and diabetes management. Any amount helps, and all funds will be used for his vet bills and continuing care post ICU release.
From the bottom of my heart, Thank you for consideration and contribution to Sandy’s vet care. He is the sweetest boy who deserves to breathe easy.
