Hello, we are Dustin Hutton and Lezlie McAllen, parents to Scarlett Hutton. Scarlett was diagnosed with Langerhans cell histiocytosis, a rare form of cancer, in January of 2022. It is multisystem and has affected many areas in her body, including her lungs, heart cavity, the base of her skull and liver. We have undergone a year of chemotherapy treatment thus far, and would first like to say thank you to everyone who gave so much to us last year, it was a tremendous help in getting Scarlett through. The initial treatment seemed promising at first, eliminating several areas, but by the end of the first year, much of the cancer was back. Scarlett has been amazingly strong, brave and resilient through all of the trips to the hospital, the testing, the scans and the treatment, despite it being a tremendous ask of a person that's only 4 years old.

This year in April she began a new, more intensive chemotherapy treatment that has been much more challenging than what she had to go through last year. We give her chemo injections at home, but they leave her much more susceptible to illness than the prior medication. A month into this treatment so far, we've already had a couple of emergency hospital visits, one that has resulted in being hospitalized for a few days. It's been very unpredictable as to how this new chemo will affect her day-to-day, and we're still trying to navigate this and figure out how to give her the best life we can despite what she's going through.

Lezlie has gone part-time with her job to work with Scarlett and get her ready to start Kindergarten next year, as long as she's able to go. We will not have the income we had previously and have started taking steps to downsize our lives a bit. That along with a whole new year of hospital bills is why we are opening this GoFundMe back up. We are once more asking for assistance with the hospital bills, food, gas, and activities for Scarlett and her sister Ada-Mae.
