Angela is dealing with some very unexpected and severe medical issues.
She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and a tumor was discovered on her spinal cord.
Emergency surgery was performed on her spinal cord to remove a 6” tumor. This surgery currently has Angela without feeling in her lower extremities. She also had two pulmonary embolisms; a thrombectomy was performed to remove the clots. She remains in the Acute Care Unit at University Hospital.
Angela is a self-employed accountant and the sole breadwinner for her family. She was hospitalized during the height of tax season; unable to work. It is unknown when Angela will be able to return to work.
Angela was also their primary caregiver for Brian. Brian has been experiencing debilitating medical issues and will need to continue his medical treatment locally and travel out of state for specialized chemotherapy treatment.
The goal of these funds is to help cover the Durr family’s expenses for medical and living. Angela’s treatment and healing journey is just the beginning. Once she is released from the hospital, her recovery could take more than a year. With her role as primary breadwinner and caregiver to Brian, the road will be long and difficult. The Durrs also have two high-school-aged children. Family has come in to help and be by their side. Anything you can contribute to this cause is greatly appreciated.
On behalf of the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department Family and the Durr family, we thank you for your help to our Treasurer, Angela, volunteer firefighter Brian and their two children.
