Hi this is Jamie, Jodie’s sister and I’m starting this fundraiser to help my sister and her family through the unexpected expenses of having to battle cancer.

These last few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions for our family. Mike hadn’t been feeling himself for the last month and a half. He has had X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, blood drawn multiple times and no answers. Mike had an endoscopy two weeks ago and we finally got some answers but not what we wanted to hear. On July 28th Mike was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. There is a large tumor right at the bottom of the esophagus before the stomach. He also had five lymph nodes along the esophagus that were cancerous. Another CT was done and looked like that was it for cancer because nothing else showed up and all organs looked fine. However a PET scan was done on August 8th and found he had multiple spots from his neck to his lower back that could be cancerous. Mike also had a X-ray showing cancer in his left leg on the tibia.

August 15th, Mike got a port put in so he can start chemo. Chemo will start on August 22nd. They took biopsies of the other spots that showed up in the PET scan to determine if cancerous or not. Those came back cancerous as well.

We are all taking this pretty hard especially my 3 nephews. This is a journey that no one wants to be on. However they know with all the love and support they have they will fight as hard as we can to beat this cancer.

Jodie also mentioned scheduled play dates with the boys would be helpful. For any of the locals that wish to help out by sending/preparing meals for them, please keep in mind one of the boys has a tree nut allergy
