Donate to help the owners of HaVL

The Vuong family who recently lost their matriarch, Ha Vuong. The Vuong's are pillars of the restaurant community in Portland, Oregon.

Their restaurant, HaVL is widely regarded as one of the city's very best. They have been nominated for James Beard Awards and are favorites of locals, chefs, celebrities and tourists. I personally made the choice to move to Portland over a bowl of noodles at HaVL, in part due to the desire to eat there regularly.

In order to grieve and make funeral arrangements, the Vuong family will close their restaurant for at least two weeks. Restaurants run on extremely tight margins and closing for two weeks will be very costly for this family. These funds will help ensure that these incredible restaurants are able to reopen and that the Vuong family can take the space they need to begin to heal from this horrible loss.
