If you’re reading this, the Richmond’s have somehow impacted your lives & you are a part of our chosen family. On January 22nd Rich experienced an accident that would propel him to having a spinal cord injury resulting in the loss of movement & feeling in his arms and hands. He had surgery to remove the problem vertebrae & got some hardware installed. A week in the hospital then off to a rehab facility. While seemingly improving at the rehab facility, Rich was met with an unexpected challenge & pain. In the early hours on Feb 7th, Rich was taken back to Bethesda North where testing showed a massive hematoma (blood clot) had formed on his spine, resulting in paralysis & an emergency surgery was performed.

Rich is able to lift his right arm, but not his left. He is unable to grab and hold on to things at all with his left hand & his right hand is still very weak. We found out a couple of days ago that this road to recover will be 6 months to a year. I wanted to put something together so we can all help the Richmond’s during this uncertain time.

Why do we need your help? While our circumstances are stressful & hectic, there is a bigger looming concern, ensuring the rest of the family gets fed & that bills can get paid. That’s where you come in! Rich started a new job 7 months ago and unfortunately does not have short or long term disability which means he has not been getting paid. What they have now, is the sole income of a high school teacher. Helping with logistics is greatly welcome and any donation is truly appreciated. Asking for help is a very humbling experience, but I know this chosen family understands. Thank you for taking the time to read this & for your help! We are grateful for each and every one of you!
