Donate to help restore the famous former Penlee lifeboat W&S

Hi , my name is Chloe, myself and Chris Pullar are trying to restore the famous former Penlee Lifeboat, the W&S. we have saved her from being burned and destroyed but sadly, she is in a very bad state, but she still floats. Unfortunately we just don’t have the funds to do this ourselves. I am reaching out to try and find the right people who would love to help fundraise or give us a helping hand or even give a small donation. This is to see if we can raise the funds to get her back over to Sussex and to complete her. We estimate she will cost around £45,000 to completely restore her. This is our our aim so she can sail back to Mousehole where she belongs and be reunited with the families who tragically lost all 8 lifeboat crew on 19th December, 1981. This is going to be a very long journey however we are ready for this as we can’t just let her go and get destroyed. This is going to be the biggest challenge we’ve accepted so far but hopefully with help from a lot of generous people and the kind donations we hope to receive we will be able to do this. Here is some history about her.

The W&S is a historic vessel. She is registered as such with the national historic ships register. She saved 102 lives during her operational life which is incredible. She served at Penlee from 1931 and was the first lifeboat at Penlee to fitter with a VHF radio. She also helped with the war effort, rescuing soldiers from France. Coxswain Trevelyan Richards served on this boat before losing his life at sea on the Solomon Browne on that fateful night. She is a very important boat to people down in Mousehole and Penzance (and to us) and we would love to see her sail back home to bring something special back home to them, as since 1981 the boathouse has remained empty as the lifeboat, the Solomon Browne along with the crew, were lost at sea, trying their hardest to rescue the Union Star in hurricane force 12 seas.
